ABOUT PAULINE

Pauline Ró (@paulinesounds) is a percussionist-frontwoman, singer, and composer. Moving between vibraphone, drums, percussion, and vocals, her music blends her roots in classical percussion, alternative rock, and avant-garde jazz while embracing a distinctly Latin American voice.

Originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, and now based in New York City, Pauline was the first woman in 18 years to graduate in percussion from Argentina’s National University of Arts (UNA), and holds an MM in Performer-Composer from The New School (NYC).

La Chispa is Pauline Ró’s first experimental pop album, marking the beginning of a new chapter in her work as an artist.

Prior to Pauline Ró, she released music and performed as Pauline Roberts, including her 2025 album Nuevas Músicas Para Vibráfono y Electrónica, a collection of commissioned works for vibraphone and electronics supported by Argentina’s National Arts Foundation and featuring works by established composers, alongside one original composition by Pauline.

As Pauline Roberts, she has performed and toured across the United States, Canada, Argentina, Panamá, Honduras, Perú, Croatia, and Australia. In 2025, she was selected to perform in Jacob Collier’s first Audience Symphony Orchestra in San Francisco and was named a Ponta Lopud Jazz Festival Fellow in Croatia. She has served as faculty at Marimbafest 2024 in Australia, performed at PASIC 2023 and the Parsons Benefit Gala 2023, and recorded original work at Sweetwater Studios.

Pauline studied with percussionist and composer Billy Martin of Medeski Martin & Wood, who has since invited her to perform at multiple CMS Fundraisers, including alongside guitarist John Scofield. In 2026, Martin also called on Pauline to serve as percussion section leader and assistant director for The Start of Wind, his new bamboo music and dance work.

Her performance of Frank Zappa’s The Black Page #1 led to an interview with Zappa’s archivist and ultimately to her joining The Furious Bongos, a touring Frank Zappa cover band featuring Chad Wackerman as a recurring guest. She is also the vibraphonist for Lulada Club, NYC’s all-female salsa band profiled by Rolling Stone.

Pauline appears on a range of recordings, including Billy Martin’s La Gran Seducción soundtrack, Lulada Club’s EP, Jacob Collier’s live version of Something Heavy, Tsons of Tsunami’s debut album led by Simon Hanes, Olivia Jones’ Eunoia for vibraphone and clarinet, and Julian Muro’s APFUS, VOL. 1, among others.
